UNDERSTAND THE DATA PATH

Clear choices.
Before you translate.

Local recognition, provider-based translation, and browser storage do different jobs. Here is how they fit together in the current Snap Translate implementation.

WHERE CONTENT GOES

The mode you choose
determines the route.

BASIC / PAGE TEXT

Text → MyMemory

Selected page text is sent from the browser to MyMemory for translation. Translation requires a network request.

BASIC / IMAGE TEXT

Image local → text to provider

Tesseract processes English and Vietnamese image text on device. The extracted text is then sent to MyMemory when translated.

PRO / TEXT OR IMAGE

Selection → your AI provider

Selected text or images are sent to the OpenAI or Gemini provider configured in the popup. Its data policies and usage terms apply.

BROWSER STORAGE

Your settings.
Explicit trade-offs.

Settings and keys: Chrome sync storage

API keys and preferences use chrome.storage.sync. Chrome may sync them across your signed-in profiles. They should not be described as staying only on one device. Review your Chrome sync settings and remove keys in the extension popup when no longer needed.

Cache and counter: local storage

The translation cache and Basic daily character counter use chrome.storage.local. They are browser data, not a Glopim account or a centralized billing record.

Provider policies

Review the active provider before sending confidential or personal content. No provider-independent retention or confidentiality guarantee is claimed here.

THE GLOPIM WEBSITE

Informational by design.
No account required.

No translation request in the demo

The Chinese-to-English example switches between prepared text inside the browser. It does not contact a translation or AI provider.

An optional enquiry form

The contact form uses the name, email, topic and message you submit to handle your enquiry through our email provider. No analytics or advertising script is included; the website sets no cookies or local storage.

No payment collection

Prices are pre-launch proposals. There is no subscription checkout, card collection or purchase enrollment on this website.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

Evaluate first.
Commit with evidence.

The proposed Business package does not imply that enterprise controls exist today. Team administration and consolidated billing are planned scope; organization policies and service-level agreements are not available.

Before any team rollout, the provider’s terms, data classification, API-key ownership, access management and organizational requirements need a specific review.
